Wednesday, March 18
• Fremont Fire Department observed a subject starting a fire next to a grocery store on Mowry Avenue. The subject lit items on fire and threw them in the irrigation drain system and bushes next to the building. The subject also had a restraining order preventing him from being at the grocery store. The subject was placed under arrest.
Officers responded to a department store on Fremont Boulevard, regarding a suspicious person. A subject followed the reporting party to her vehicle and attempted to open the rear door. The reporting party drove away, and the subject was located at a nearby bus stop. The subject was found to have an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest.
Friday, March 20
• Officers responded to assist the Fremont Fire Department with a fire at a temple on Hansen Avenue. The fire department extinguished the fire before officers arrived, but advised that the fire was possibly suspicious. Nearby residents advised of a second fire in front of an adjacent residence. A stroller was left aflame in the front yard, and the resident extinguished it. The fire appeared to have caused some structural damage to the home.
Sunday, March 22
• Officers investigated a commercial burglary at a demolition site on Walnut Avenue. Multiple subjects entered the secured site and removed copper and other construction materials. Prior calls for service indicated an ongoing pattern of thefts from the location. On March 24, officers located the subjects’ vehicle at a nearby grocery store and conducted a traffic stop. The stolen materials were found in the vehicle, as well as a significant amount of narcotics and items commonly used for drug sales. Two subjects were placed under arrest. A search of one of the subjects’ residences revealed additional narcotics, drug paraphernalia, stolen property, a stolen motorcycle and a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
