San Leandro acting city clerk steps into permanent position

Sarah Bunting brings 15 years of city clerk experience

San Leandro’s acting city clerk has been appointed as the city’s permanent city clerk. Sarah Bunting was chosen after an extensive recruitment process. A March 17 press release said that Bunting has a strong commitment to public service and understands the vital role of the city clerk in supporting a transparent and effective local government.

City manager Janelle Cameron said in the press release that Bunting has over 15 years of experience working as a city clerk in Berkeley, Livermore and San Leandro.

“I am especially grateful for her willingness to step into this demanding role during a period of transition for the council and for the excellent work she has done in guiding the office,” Cameron said.

Bunting said she looks forward to continuing to work with the city staff and deliver customer service to the community. She also said she will foster a culture of innovation that allows her to find new ways to provide services to everyone.

Bunting has a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Thomas Edison State University. She became a certified municipal clerk through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She completed leadership programs in San Leandro and Alameda County.
