Indivisible-Fremont joins nationwide ‘No Kings’ protest

Locals stand against authoritarian overreach

Members of Indivisible-Fremont will join millions of citizens across the country for a peaceful demonstration on Saturday, March 28, to oppose the increasingly violent and deadly authoritarian actions under the Trump administration. Last year we had approximately 3,000 participants and this year we would love to see those numbers doubled.

This honk and wave event will take place on Paseo Padre Parkway between Walnut Avenue and Mowry Boulevard, from 10:30am -1:30pm. This “No Kings” National Day of Non-Violent Action is part of a coordinated mobilization organized by the No Kings Coalition and partners like Indivisible and the ACLU.

Speakers, including Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan, will begin promptly at 10:30am in the courtyard by the Fremont Hall of Justice. Congressman and California Representative Ro Khanna will speak at 11am. This day of action will include a Honk and Wave Rally and will feature sign waving, singing and chanting, with several local bands and musicians lining the sidewalks.

“We are gathering to defend our democracy and send a clear message: America belongs to the people, not to an authoritarian that rules through fear and intimidation,” said Tracy Sarge, volunteer and rally co-host from Indivisible-Fremont.

She continued, “So many have volunteered their time to make this a day of joy and community, as much as a day of action…We refuse to remain silent as our neighbors are targeted by state-sanctioned violence and our constitutional rights are systematically eroded.”

Organizers emphasize that this will be a strictly peaceful and nonviolent demonstration, following the precedent of previous “No Kings” events that saw millions participate without arrests. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonviolent signs, water and American flags to symbolize their commitment to democratic values.
