Magic show, community garden, and opera season

Illusionist / Magician Ben Seidman is coming to Castro Valley Center for the arts on October 5. His show “Magic Things” involves sleight-of-hand, pickpocketing and stand-up comedy. Seidman guest-starred in the Netflix series Brainchild, and he has performed at casinos and resorts around the world. Purchase tickets at cvartsfoundation.org

Local gardening organization Plantify will hold a Community Kickoff on September 28 at Paradise Community Garden in Hayward. The group connects humans to nature through educational workshops and guided outings. Expect DJ music, light bites and drinks, and good vibes with fellow plant lovers. The event starts at 11am. Over in the Tri-Valley Area, Livermore Valley Opera will soon open its 33rd season with Donizetti’s Daughter of the Regiment. The romantic comedy will be sung in French with English subtitles. Pre-opera talks will be held one hour before curtain time. Showtimes are one Saturday evening performance and one Sunday Matinee performance on September 28 & 29, and October 5 & 6.
