During September, Hayward will host several community events to help veterans.
The Alameda County Veterans Affairs Commission will be hosting a Veteran Suicide Prevention Forum during this National Suicide Prevention Month on Wednesday, September 4 from 6-7pm at the Hayward Veteran Memorial Building. The Palo Alto VA Mobile Medical Outreach Team & Partners program will be back at the Hayward Veterans Memorial Building on Thursday, September 12, from 10am -1pm. Representatives from the Palo Alto VA Medical Outreach Team will be on hand to provide examinations, consultations and referrals to enrolled Veterans in the VA Healthcare System. They will assist with information about Veteran enrollment for VA Healthcare and other VA resources.
The Team will be offering toxic exposure screenings for veterans enrolled in the VA healthcare system. If Veterans have questions regarding eligibility and enrollment into the VA Healthcare System, have them bring a copy of their DD-214, and a list of current medications. Representatives from the Veterans Benefits Administration, and Swords to Plowshares have also confirmed they will be at the event.
