New SFO Terminal
By Denny Stein
The new SFO terminal has opened, with Virgin America, American and other airlines departing from a bright, clean, spacious terminal with plenty of high-end shops. Kiehls, Mango, Peet’s, ExpressSpa, Napa Market, plus glitzy dress, jewelry and tech shops are all there for you to use up your vacation money before you even get going. Get a $3.50 yogurt or a $4.00 coffee to hold you while you wait to board. I wonder if just the freedom of getting through the security line, before being herded into the boarding lines, releases a shopping spree endorphin?
Hey airlines! How about Including tips for flying with babies in the pre-takeoff announcement. Babies ears “pop” from the change in cabin pressure just like yours do. Adults can yawn or swallow or chew gum to mitigate this uncomfortable sensation. Babies cry, causing more discomfort for adults. But, if you provide your baby with a pacifier, a bottle of water, even the tip of your finger to suck, then the swallowing action can dispel their pain and quiet them down.
Here’s another suggestion: Don’t seat children and babies first, that just means they are stuck in a small cramped area much longer. Have one parent or a flight attendant take the baby baggage on board, and let the kids wait until the last minute to sit down.
Then pushback and get going.
