On August 17, 2012, Milpitas police officers responded to the 1200 block of Starlite Drive for a report of a vehicle burglary in progress. The reporting party indicated two suspects were stealing items from a vehicle parked in the area. Officers responded, and arrived on scene in less than two and a half minutes and arrested one of the suspects after a short foot pursuit. He was identified as Edgardo Sanchez of Alviso. The suspect had taken a cellular telephone from the vehicle. The other suspect fled the area on a bicycle and was not located.

Sanchez was booked into the Santa Clara County Main jail for auto burglary, possession of a controlled substance, under the influence of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and an outstanding arrest warrant.
