Meet your elected officials
By Suzanne Barba
-- Elected officials, representing the local communities of Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro and San Lorenzo, have been invited to “report to the residents” at a Meet Your Elected Officials forum on Friday, April 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The forum will be held at the Hayward City Hall.
Elected Officials from all levels of government have been invited: congressional, state senate and assembly districts, county supervisors, city councils, school boards, community college board and a multitude of special districts.
A representative from each board has been asked to present their board’s greatest accomplishment in 2012 and a major goal for 2013. Elected officials will be available to answer questions from their constituents after the presentations.
In addition, the League will be honoring State Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett for her long years of service as an assemblywoman and senator. Her senate term will end in 2014. Senator Corbett has worked to secure funding for transportation improvements, environmental projects and economic development opportunities for her district. She is credited for providing valuable assistance in the effort to get the funding to build the new Castro Valley Library.
The public is welcome to meet their elected representatives during an informal reception which begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 6:15 p.m. RSVPs are appreciated to firstname.lastname@example.org or Suzanne at (510) 538-9678.
This forum is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters Eden Area (LWVEA) and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
