The Hayward Chamber of Commerce Latino Business Roundtable will hear a presentation on the value of the Downtown Streets Team at its May 25 meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Balch Pavilion of St. Rose Hospital, 27200 Calaroga Ave. Ayesha Nic-Gongora will speak about ?What Can the Downtown Streets Team Do For You?? Founded in 2005, Downtown Streets Team serves over 750 unhoused men and women a year. In Hayward, they have contracts to keep downtown streets picked up and with the chamber of commerce to handle cleanup after events such as the downtown street parties, Mariachi Festival, and Light Up the Season.


Representatives of the Oakland Athletics will be among the presenters at the Thursday, May 17 meeting of the Hayward Nonprofit Alliance, at 10 a.m. at the Hayward Area Historical Society Museum, 22380 Foothill Blvd. The A?s team will be led by Brian Howard from the business development office. His experience includes working for Florida State University in sports management and the NFL?s Jacksonville Jaguars.


The Hayward Chamber of Commerce International Travel Program will take travelers to explore the ?Adventures of South Africa,? Sept. 1-12, 2018. ?South Africa is one of the most culturally and geographically diverse places on earth,? said chamber travel coordinator Tina Lambert. ?Fondly known by the locals as the ?Rainbow Nation? it has 11 official languages and its multicultural inhabitants are influenced by a fascinating mix of African, Asian and European cultures.?
