Top teachers to be honored

A reception to honor this yearÕs top teachers in Alameda County schools is set for Oct. 5 in Castro Valley.

The 28th Annual Alameda County Teacher of the Year Awards program recognizes top district and regional occupational program (ROP) educators and honors the more than 10,000 educators across the county that work tirelessly to inspire students to prepare to become leaders.

The awards program will take place at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Road and is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a hors DÕoeuvre reception; ceremony starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults; $5 for children and students.
