Sweet Sunday melodies in the plaza

Submitted By Lorna Jaynes

After a yearÕs hiatus, the Niles Plaza Summer Concert Series is back! Sponsored by the Niles Main Street Association, the free concerts will be held Sunday, July 9 and Sunday, September 10. The July 9 concert will feature the trio Sezu delivering sweet melodies and harmonies lovingly crafted and passionately played; Michael McNevin, FremontÕs favorite and fabulous singer-songwriter; Cryptic Fauna, a four-piece rock infusion band; and The Collective, a high energy band covering everyone from Bowie to the Beatles and Oasis.

Just bring a lawn chair and grab any open seating on the plaza lawn. The Niles Main Street Association provides many shade canopies, and there is also plenty of sunny bench seating facing the amphitheater with great views of the stage, the Niles hills, and the historic old town.

While youÕre here, stop by the Train Depot for a tour, enjoy Sunday steam train rides through Niles Canyon on the original track bed of the Transcontinental Railroad, or visit the active silent film theater built by the Edison Company during NilesÕ heyday as a silent film mecca.

Come early, save a spot, and stroll the town!

The summer concert series is brought to you by the Niles Main Street Association and sponsored by Fremont Bank, Valley Oak Partners, Law & Mediation Office of Lorna Jaynes, Mr. MikeyÕs Country Store, and Niles Ice Cream.
