No injuries reported in Milpitas structure fire

Submitted By Milpitas Fire Department

In the early evening of Thursday, June 29 the Milpitas Fire Department responded to a report of a fire alarm going off in a commercial building on Ames Avenue in the southern portion of the city.

Six minutes after the 6:31 p.m. report Engine Company E86 arrived at the scene where smoke was reported coming out from under a roll top door of a private business. Fire department officials then initiated a full alarm assignment for help.

Arriving firefighters extinguished the blaze at 7:11 p.m. Officials said the fire was contained to a 15-by-15-foot area used to store equipment and materials used by the building. The building was unoccupied when the fire alarm went off; there were no injuries.

There was no estimated loss to the business immediately reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
