Businesses and professionals receive Chamber Business Awards

Submitted By Valerie Boyle

The Newark Chamber of Commerce welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of local business and government leaders to their annual Celebration of Business Awards Luncheon held on June 29th at the Newark DoubleTree by Hilton. This annual event, which honors and recognizes outstanding business people and leading business organizations, also included the formal installation of the officers and directors of the Newark Chamber, and featured a keynote address from Mayor Alan L. Nagy. June is officially proclaimed ÒBusiness Appreciation MonthÓ in Newark by the Mayor and Council.

The focus of the MayorÕs address highlighted the essential and valued role business plays in the overall quality of life in the City, and in that regard, he shared the exciting current examples of growth and success of our Newark businesses. And the Mayor, more than most, ought to know all about the historical growth and changes in the City - he's played an impressive leadership role, having served on the Newark City Council for 37 years.

The crowd enthusiastically embraced and applauded the recipients - all successful examples of business and professional achievement- as they were unveiled and presented with their awards:

Ken has been a volunteer leader and participant in many organizations, including the Chamber, and this is in additional to successfully building and earning a stellar reputation within his industry.

Chamber CEO Valerie Boyle, noted that each year it is honored to recognize achievement of individuals and organizations like these. As an example, last year, the TRI-CITY VOICE , which truly does "tell the stories of the community," was the recipient of the COMMUNITY PARTNER award.
