Retired Teachers Week

November 3-9 is CaliforniaÕs Fifteenth Annual Retired Teachers Week. Anywhere you go in the Tri City area, you will encounter retired teacher volunteers. We tutor in local schools, drive seniors to appointments, work in hospitals, assist in youth organizations, knit or crochet items for newborns or people in shelters as well as military overseas or in hospitals, and distribute food to those in need to name a few. In fact, statewide retired teachers have logged in more than 2.5 million hours that equates to more than $62 million in services.
Ê
In addition to volunteering, retired teachers also have provided over $675,000 in grants, scholarships, and donations.
Ê
So take the time to thank a former teacher in your area. We would love to hear from you.

Also check out our website at www.calrta.org.
