Tanning burglary suspects arrested
Submitted By Sgt. Dave Morris, Milpitas PD
On August 16, 2013, at 12:56 P.M., Milpitas police officers responded to the 500-block of East Calaveras Blvd. on a report of a theft, by two females at a local tanning salon. The clerk reported one suspect had distracted her while the other suspect took the opportunity to steal money and other items. The two suspects fled the area before the clerk realized what had happened.
A description of the suspects was broadcasted over the police radio and two Milpitas police officers stopped two suspects who matched the suspect's description at a nearby hotel. The clerk positively identified the two suspects and they were taken into custody without incident. The stolen property was recovered and a subsequent search revealed one of the suspects was in possession of narcotics. An acquaintance of the suspects was also stopped and gave a false name to the officers. He was also arrested after he was found to have drug paraphernalia and stolen property in his possession.
The suspects were identified as Lourdes Oravillo and Patricia Castillon both from San Jose. They were both booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for burglary and conspiracy. Oravillo was also booked for possession of narcotics. The acquaintance was identified as Melecio Padilla. He was booked for possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and providing false identification to a police officer.
