Event honoring military recruits event draws dignitaries, recruits
Submitted By Michael Emerson
"As the Founder and Chairman of Saluting Military Recruits it was very rewarding for me that so many attended the event, which is our first year doing this, we had 60 recruits from the different military services attend, plus another 133 of their recruiters, families and guests.
It was also an honor to have Congressman Eric Swalwell and State Senator Ellen Corbett also attend, and participate, showing how much they care about our Country and our Military.
I was also very pleased that a number of local veterans attended, we had veterans from WWII, one is a Navy Pearl Harbor Survivor, and another is a Marine Corps Iwo Jima Survivor, also there were veterans from the Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm War and the current Iraq/Afghan War. This event was so successful its been decided to make this an annual event, we will do this again next year on Sunday, 1 June 2014.
But, this event would not have been as successful without the donations of local and national organizations who donated funds for the use of the building, the t-shirts, and the refreshments. As a Marine Corps veteran who served during the Desert Storm War, this was a labor of love to salute and thank these young men and women and thank them for honorably joining the U.S. Military to protect our Country, our citizens, our way of life, and our Freedom."
