February 5, 2013 > Pioneers host youth clinic, split with Gators Pioneers host youth clinic, split with Gators Saturday night, February 2, was filled with excitement at Cal State East Bay when 140 kids gathered for a basketball clinic and were treated to court action as the men and women Pioneers took on the SF State Gators in the ÒBattle of the Bay.Ó The men were faced with a great running game and fast break attack that was an immediate and constant threat throughout the game. In the physical contest, CSUEB was forced by a stubborn Gator defense to take low percentage shots from the outside and came out on the losing end of the 89-62 final score. It was a different outcome in the womenÕs contest as the Pioneers outshot and defended their net in a Òsolid win.Ó After a tentative start, the Pioneers led the way, claiming a 59-44 victory.
