At the Jan. 14 Special City Council meeting, the Fremont City Council appointed Raj Salwan as Fremont's new councilmember to fill the vacancy after Bill Harrison was elected to serve as Mayor. Councilmember Salwan was sworn in to office at the end of the special meeting. He will serve as councilmember for approximately two years until the results of the Nov. 4, 2014, General Municipal Election are certified.
