Spotlight on sportsmanship
Submitted By Liz Warren
Kayla Figone, Varsity Cross Country runner for Newark Memorial, displayed a great act of sportsmanship when, at the two-mile mark at Coyote Hills, James Logan's top runner, Amihan Agustin, went down with a hip injury. Upon crossing the finish line, Figone immediately handed her bib to her coach and asked where the trainer was. She raced off, alerted the medical staff and headed back to Agustin, where she stayed at her side until they could return to the staging area. Kayla, you have made your school and the NCS proud! |
