October 2, 2012 > Wage garnishment bill signed into law Wage garnishment bill signed into law Submitted By Jeff Barbosa Governor Jerry Brown has signed a bill, authored by Assemblymember Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont), to enable low-income earners facing wage garnishment to keep a little more money to make ends meet. AB 1775 provides a modest increase on the amount of wages that are exempt from wage garnishment. Current law only protects $217.50 per week.
