Fremont General Plan receives Award of Merit
The City of Fremont General Plan Update was recently recognized by the Northern California Chapter of the American Planning Association with an Award of Merit. This award recognizes a number of "best practices," including the use of community volunteers to increase public involvement and creation of a user-friendly "Vision Book" to convey the main themes of the Plan.
The City Council adopted the General Plan Update in December 2011. It calls for Fremont to become "strategically urban" in the future, with development focused near transit.
