Men's Baseball: Cougars battle hard but lose second round contest

It was a great season for the Newark Memorial Cougars but the season came to an abrupt ending as they lost a close game to the College Park Falcons in the second round of the North Coast Section playoffs, 2-1.

The cougars were never out of the game, coming up with good defensive plays but lacked enough offense to overcome a one run deficit. A solid performance by Falcon Pitcher Anthony Baleto scattered five hits and recorded five strikeouts. The Cougar attack was only able to score one run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly. That slim 1-0 lead was erased in the third inning by College Park on multiple base thefts by Jefferey Miller who reached base on a walk and finally scored on an infield single. Another run in the fourth inning sealed the win for the Falcons.
