Letter to the Editor: To the Fremont Community
During the budget discussion at our School Board meeting on May 23, I got carried away with my remarks about how dysfunctional and broken our government is, and how many of our elected officials are lacking in integrity. While I still stand firm in my assertion that much of the problems we are having with the budget, policies, and their impact on education come from elected officials who act selfishly and greedily to make sure that they stay in the office or get promoted to higher office, I sincerely apologize for the way I expressed my thoughts.
I want to especially apologize to my Board members who are working very hard to represent us at the state level. My retort to them was rude, unprofessional and inconsiderate. I also want to apologize to the Superintendent and staff, and all viewers of the Board meeting, because they do not deserve to hear me ranting the way I did.
I should have remembered to "be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry." I do thank Board members and staff for their kind understanding and patience with me, and for gently reminding me that we are all working together in different capacities and at different levels for the good of our kids.
There is hope for the good of our children's future when we have people who are truly caring, willing and able to serve humbly and collaboratively.
