Men's Volleyball: Logan defeats a determined Castro Valley squad
April 19 Logan: 25-8, 25-10, 25-15
The Logan Colts started the match with a strong effort and victory in the first game 25-8, but Castro Valley came back with enthusiasm. The second game, though closer than the first, ended with a Colt victory of 25-10. However, the third and most intense match revealed a determined Castro Valley effort in the closest game of the match, 25-15.
The Colts were able to use a different "libero" each game of the match with Chris Trinh playing in Game 1, Ben Evangelista playing in Game 2 and Cameron Salcedo playing in Game 3. All three played very well and kept the Colts passing game in sync the entire match. Andrew Nguyen and Neal Barrina played steady with Barrina directing a very well-balanced offense. Ryan Nicanor and Khristien Ocampo set the tone by running a strong quick attack in the middle and doing a good job of patrolling the net. Daljit Dhandwar and Neil Hundal continued with some excellent stuff blocks by both and strategic tipping by Dhandwar. |
