He has been in private practice for 27 years in the City of Fremont, California specializing in pediatric dentistry. The California Society of Pediatric Dentistry is the state's leading advocate for the optimal oral health of infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special needs. The Society serves its members and represents the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry in California to achieve excellence in practice, education, and research. Dr. Chan is a past President of the California Dental Association. He also serves as a Regent for the American College of Dentists, the oldest honor society for the profession in the United States. Dr. Chan is an active community and civic leader. Dr. Chan's wife Suzanne, is a Councilmember for the City of Fremont. His son Scott is an internet video producer/director. His son Tracy is starting his own company on consumer analytics.
