Saturday July 30
Officers responded to the 7-11 store located at the intersection of Thornton Avenue and Sycamore Street at 2:30 a.m. for an armed robbery that had just occurred. Responding officers learned that the suspect entered the store wearing a mask covering his face. The suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the clerk, telling the clerk to hand over money and cigarettes then fled on foot eastbound on foot. The clerk believed the suspect was a dark skinned male, approximately 25 to 30 years old, 5'10" tall, 200 lbs., wearing black gloves, and black pants. No vehicle was seen or heard.

August 1
At 5:50 p.m., Officers responded to the 8400 block of Mayhews Landing Road on a report of a residential burglary that had just occurred. The resident returned home and saw a juvenile male near the front of her address carrying some of her property. The resident and family gave chase in their vehicle as the juvenile was running away and dropping their property. The juvenile tried to hide on a porch on Sunset Avenue, was taken into custody and, when searched, additional property stolen from the residence was found in his pockets and a backpack. The suspect, age 16, a runaway from a group home in Oakland with a prior arrest for residential burglary in Newark was booked at juvenile hall.

Officer Kimbrough was detailed to Newpark Mall at 6:40 p.m. on a report of two females, Riza Martinez, resident of Lodi, age 18 and Vivian Arias, Hayward resident age 21, making purchases with a fraudulent credit card at several stores inside the mall. Martinez and Arias were booked at Santa Rita Jail.

Tuesday August 2
Officer initiated a car stop on Thornton Avenue at Arden at 11:44 p.m. The passenger of the vehicle fled and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect, Jose Miguel Cisneros of San Jose, was arrested in the parking lot of the Bridgeport Apartments. A warrant check revealed Cisneros was a parolee at large.
