"Feed Your Brain" reading program wraps up

Submitted By Kristen Dickson

With the start of school quickly approaching and students turning their sights back to the classroom, Half Price Books is encouraging kids to bring in their completed "Feed Your Brain" summer reading logs now through August 7 to receive a $5 Back-to-School Bucks reward.

Kids 14 and under were encouraged to read at least 15 minutes a day during June and July. If kids read at least 600 minutes during the summer, they could bring in their completed reading log to their local store to receive their reward. Half Price Books will also award one top reader per age group, per store with a Top Reader prize, a $20 Half Price Books gift card.

In addition, Half Price Books will also reward those who took part in the Borders "Double Dog Dare Challenge" Children's Summer Reading Program. Participants can also turn in completed reading logs to their local Half Price Books in the case that Borders, Borders Express or Waldenbooks is unable to honor their program terms. Borders logs need to be turned in by August 7 and will not be eligible for the Top Reader prize.

All Back-to-School Bucks expire August 31.

As the summer winds down, parents can continue to help kids feed their brains through books, magazines and newspaper articles that fit their interests. By providing reading materials related to a favorite subject, they'll learn more about that topic and get the added bonus of a bigger and better vocabulary.
