A short time later, a female came to the Newark Police Department and reported that her boyfriend had kept her from leaving the residence and took her cell phone to prevent her from calling the police. July 24 At 8:20 p.m., a disturbance was reported at NewPark Mall. One victim and a potential suspect were stopped and identified but no arrests were made. The case is under investigation.
July 26 At 12:46 p.m., officers responded to a strong arm robbery that had just occurred in the parking lot near McDonalds Restaurant on Mowry Avenue. The female victim was with her two young children when the suspect ripped a necklace from her neck and fled on foot. While responding, dispatch learned that a Good Samaritan had chased the suspect down and was in the process of trying to detain him until the arrival of the police. Marcus Johnson (transient) was arrested for robbery and three outstanding warrants. The victim was not injured. |
