Re:Member celebrates how and why artists make "things," and how having a place, a home to show these things in, needs to be celebrated and honored. Sun Gallery is a very important space in the creative life of many East Bay artists. Throughout the years, Sun Gallery has acted as a locus for Fine Art within the community and a vital resource for children and youth arts education. Please honor the achievements of this extraordinary space and its members by attending the exhibition.
Artwork featured in the exhibition is in all media, ranging from large scale installation to intimate collaged works, and illustrates the diverse output of the artist members of the Sun Gallery. Artists in the exhibition include: Valerie Caveglia, Colin Herrick, Clint Imboden, Susan Parrish, Joseph Slusky, Jacqueline Cooper, Amy Nelson-Smith, Janet Atteberry, James Faulkner, Patra Nesseth-Steffes, Thomas Corey, Joannie Miller, Christine Bender and many others.
The artists' reception on August 20 runs from noon until 5 p.m. and will feature spoken word performances by local poets organized by Jose Alonzo, and musical entertainment. The event will serve as a potluck fundraiser for the Sun Gallery with a suggested donation of $5.
Be part of the extraordinary team of artists and art enthusiasts that make it all happen! Chip-in to help with operational expenses. Sun Gallery is also currently looking for curatorial interns, publicity interns, and general volunteers for the everyday work of making the Sun a success. For more information on the show or to get involved, call the gallery at (510) 581-4050.
