Temporary closure of eastbound Stevenson Boulevard

Submitted By BART

Eastbound Stevenson Boulevard, Fremont, will be temporarily closed between Guardino Drive and immediately east of Civic Center Drive on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at 9 am for up to six hours. The closure is needed to restore Stevenson Boulevard, which has been impacted by construction for more than a year.

During the closure, the second in a series of three pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular detours will be in place. The detour established for the closure is Civic Center Drive, to Walnut Avenue, to Guardino Drive to Stevenson Boulevard. The Police Department, Dog Park/Basketball Complex and Animal Shelter will remain accessible.

In preparation for the closure, starting on July 15, pedestrians, motorists and cyclists will encounter flaggers controlling traffic and should anticipate intermittent delays.

The remaining detour for removal of the westbound temporary bridge will take place in early August of 2011. Look for future notices about this detour. The work will include, but is not limited to, removal of a temporary bridge and related work; use of a crane to lift material overhead; truck traffic entering and exiting the construction area; paving and grading of Stevenson Boulevard and related work; clean up of work activities.
