Seals chomp Gators
Submitted By Tracy Uyeda
The very close and disappointing loss to the Newark Bluefins last week sparked increased Seals determination to perform with maximum effort and drive to improve as a team. On Saturday, June 25, the Seals hosted Warm Springs and outscored the Gators 646-387 to improve to 3-1 through four weeks of the East Bay Swim League season.
Surrounded by a sea of over 125 swimmers, head coach Robb Herndon spoke of fun, team spirit, strong effort and encouragement. He also recognized the Seals swimmers of the week. Natalie Dunn, Nikole Estrada, Adrien Sotelo and Branden Uyeda received awards for their exceptional effort and performance.
Dominating in the pool were Caitlin and Eric Jorgens, Grant Myers and Rachael Taylor. These blue ribbon swimmers swept all four of their events. First-year assistant coach and former Seals swimmer Breana Meagher stood happily poolside feeling blessed to be a coach.
"I'm impressed with all of the swimmers today - I'm excited to see the Seals consistently swim with a lot of effort, a lot of heart and love."
With three remaining regular meets left, the Seals are gearing up for their next meet against the long-standing EBSL champions, the Mission Valley Barracudas on Saturday, July 9, after a league-wide bye week for the recognition of Independence Day. |
