Free summer meals
Submitted By Councilman Mark Salinas
Hayward City Councilman Mark Salinas invites all Hayward kids, ages 18 years old and younger, to breakfast and lunch daily, free-of-charge this summer. The "Let's Do Lunch Hayward... and breakfast, too" program started on June 13 and will run until August 12, 2011, at sites throughout the City of Hayward, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, San Leandro and Union City. Hayward kids can simply walk in and receive a free breakfast and lunch. It's that easy!
In partnership with the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) Nutrition Services, the Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District, HUSD's Youth Enrichment Program, community centers, faith-based organizations, Dream Courts Foundation, Eden Housing, Hayward Firefighters Local 1909, Union City Sports Center and other agencies are serving a free breakfast and lunch.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, meals are available at the Hayward Firefighters Local 1909, 22734 Main Street, Hayward. Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and lunch, from noon until 1 p.m. Parents, kids and teens should check the schedules and the meals available for different locations.
