June 24, 2011 > Erratum Erratum The second sentence, paragraph three, of the article "County redistricting proposals" (June 21, 2011, issue) reads: "The US Constitution also requires equitable and effective representation for racial and language-minority groups." Given that redistricting plans must comply with requirements of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution and with the mandate of the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended, 42 USC ¤ 1973, et seq., to assure fair and effective representation for racial and language-minority groups, the sentence should read, as follows: "Redistricting plans must comply with requirements of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and with federal legislation to assure equitable and effective representation for racial and language-minority groups."
