June 24, 2011 > Final seat lab scheduled for Fleet of the Future Final seat lab scheduled for Fleet of the Future Submitted By BART The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is partnering with BART to conduct the last in a series of seat labs to gain input from Santa Clara County residents on seating for BART's new fleet of vehicles. The public is invited to tour a mobile, interactive seat lab to test and review new train car seating designs. According to early feedback, the majority of riders would like wider aisles in the "Fleet of the Future" to facilitate access to doors, provide greater comfort for standing passengers during peak travel and better accommodate people with disabilities. The faster passengers board or alight from a train, the less standing time of vehicles at stations.
