May 27, 2011 > DARE Graduation DARE Graduation Submitted By Charlotte Pang Zanker Elementary School hosted a D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) graduation for 97 fifth grade students May 18. All fifth graders completed ten weeks of instruction from Milpitas Police Officer Duong Nguyen, himself a former student at Zanker. D.A.R.E. is an officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children how to resist peer pressure and live productive, drug-free and violence-free lives. The following fifth graders won awards: Top Essay: Katrina Custodio; Alan Tran; Delaney Gomez Jackson Top Poster: Rishika Sharma; Chloe Chavarria; Eme Espinoza Most Inspirational: Shaina Ruiz; Gloria Ma; Ashton Nguyen Top DARE Student: Trent Dunn; Victoria Quinones; Anuja Samant
