A vigilant San Jose Animal Care & Services employee reported suspicious activity to Milpitas Police.
On Wednesday, April 20 at about 12:24 p.m. while working on Coyote Street in Milpitas, the employee witnessed a man carrying a small "drawstring type" black bag prowling near a residence. When confronted, the suspect ran into the backyard of another residence on Coyote Street and then into the backyard of a residence on Lexington Street.
Based on the detailed description provided by the Animal Services employee and additional information provided by another witness in the area, officers from the Milpitas Police Department located Armando Mata Jr. and Brandi Serna hiding behind a vehicle parked in a driveway on Lexington Street. Both suspects were arrested for prowling and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
