On Monday, April 4, Milpitas Police Sergeant Tim Campbell located an unoccupied stolen car in the parking lot of Executive Inn on Dempsey Road, in Milpitas. Officers began surveillance and observed Francisco Munoz, a 42-year- old transient from San Jose get in the car and start to drive away. When officers stopped Munoz, he tried to flee on foot and was subdued.

Munoz was found to be a parolee and registered sexual offender who refused to contact his parole officer and did not comply with registration requirements. He had removed a tracking device and been a fugitive for several months. Methamphetamines and a lock pick device were found in his possession. Munoz was booked into Santa Clara County jail for possession of a stolen car, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, failure to register as a sex offender and resisting arrest.
