March 25, 2011 > Volunteers beautify sound wall in Union City Volunteers beautify sound wall in Union City Submitted By City of Union City Hanford Street volunteers Elizabeth and Rick Silva from the Hanford neighborhood watch group joined in with the Quintero family of Union City and our work furlough group to complete an ongoing project along Hanford Street. The 1500-foot section along the sound wall received 45 red flowering Crape Myrtles and 44 Boston Ivy vines. Irrigation was added to this backup area and connected into our smart irrigation system at Accinelli Park. The area was also mulched to help prevent weeds and retain soil moisture.
