No access to Downtown Hayward from Hesperian Boulevard

Submitted By City of Hayward

Saturday, March 12 saw the start of a permanent "traffic split" on eastbound State Route 92 between Industrial Boulevard and Hesperian Boulevard.

The two left lanes now take motorists toward Downtown Hayward with no access to I-880 in either direction. The two right lanes of eastbound SR 92 will provide access to I-880 in both directions.

Eastbound SR 92 traffic from the Hesperian Boulevard on-ramp will enter on the right side of the split and will have access to I-880 only for approximately three months while access can be constructed to allow traffic on the right side to go to Downtown Hayward.

Motorists wishing to travel to the Downtown from Hesperian Boulevard should use Winton Avenue to the north or Tennyson Road to the south. Illuminated message signs will be displayed.

Please remember to "Slow for the Cone Zone."
