Excellence in Education Gala
Submitted By Desrie Campbell
Once again it is time for Fremont Education Foundation's (FEF) annual Excellence in Education Gala benefiting Innovative Education Grants for Fremont's public school classrooms. This year's gala will be held Friday, February 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Fremont Marriott.
This Fremont fundraising event promotes and celebrates excellence in education at the K-12 level within our public schools. Funds raised for grants allow the Foundation to sponsor and expand support of exceptional projects in classrooms to improve educational achievement and broaden student horizons and experiences.
Over the past 19 years, FEF has awarded over 200 grants to teachers, directly benefiting tens of thousands of students. Given the current budget crisis, classroom needs are greater than ever as the District ponders how to make even deeper cuts from previous years.
Each year, the Fremont Education Foundation chooses two honorees to celebrate - one from within the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) and one from the greater community - for their outstanding contributions to education within Fremont. This year, we are proud to celebrate the contributions of Dale Hardware as our 2011 Excellence in Education Community Honoree, and Parvin Ahmadi as our Excellence in Education FUSD Honoree.
Dale Hardware stands out for its many contributions to enriching Fremont's community since 1955, including ongoing support for a large number of the non-profits in Fremont, particularly those serving our students and schools.
FUSD honoree Parvin Ahmadi enriched the lives of students within Fremont for over 13 years as a teacher, principal, Director of Elementary Education, and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction - not to mention board member of FEF's Foundation - before leaving to become Superintendent of the Pleasanton School District this past year. We want to thank Parvin for her tremendous contribution to our educational community over the years.
In addition to being a fundraiser, the Gala's goal is to enchant and inspire. This year, enjoy "Let the Good Times Roll!" A Mardi Gras spectacular celebration awaits you! An evening of music, dance, entertainment, and food will create a New Orleans experience in Fremont featuring games provided by five of our district business associations; StarStruck Show Stoppers will deliver a spirited performance of singing and dancing; and a silent auction and raffle will entice attendees.
Featured emcee for the night will be reporter David Louie from ABC7 News.
Join us as we celebrate our local heroes while supporting a great cause. Perhaps you will also walk away with a fantastic reward.
Tickets are $75 per person, and sponsorship opportunities are available. To register, visit www.fremont-education.org or call Desrie Campbell at (510) 456-8783. All proceeds benefit FEF's Innovative Education Grant fund.
