Bank robbery suspect identified
The deceased suspect related to a robbery that took place on Saturday, January 15 at "Bank of the West" located at 33301 Alvarado Niles Road in Union City has been identified as Francis Buhay, 36, of Sunnyvale. A second suspect, Anthony Lee Pabros, 26-year-old, of Fremont remained in the car while the robbery was in progress. The ensuing pursuit of the vehicle by officers and subsequent stop resulted in an exchange of gunfire as Buhay jumped from the getaway car, fired a handgun at officers and fled on foot into the backyard of a nearby residence.
Pabros was immediately taken into custody, arrested for robbery and conspiracy and booked into Santa Rita Jail. He appeared in court Wednesday, January 19 charged with four counts of robbery with a gun, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) on a police officer. Bail was set at one million dollars.
