Submitted By Michelle Alaimo
The Milpitas Unified School District Board appointed Daniel Bobay, on December 14, 2010, to serve as a Board Member for the Metropolitan Education District (MetroED). Bobay's first MetroED Board meeting will be on January 19, 2011.
MetroED consists of two programs - Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) and the Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) - and is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that serves six high school districts: Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, San Jose Unified School District, Milpitas Unified School District and the Santa Clara Unified School District. Each JPA district appoints a Governing Board member to serve on MetroED's Board for a two-year term.
Bobay was elected to the MUSD Governing Board in 2008 and serves currently as Vice-President. During his 13 years in Milpitas, he has been actively involved in many community organizations such as the Kiwanis Clubs, PAL Soccer, the Rainbow Theater and the Milpitas Food Pantry. He has also served on the Milpitas Unified Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as both a treasurer and president. Bobay was the founding president of the Milpitas Council of PTAs and a past president of the North Valley Council of PTAs. |
