The California State University will have a new avenue to share the exciting stories and science-based developments across the 23-campus system through the recently launched "Science and the CSU blog" at: http://blogs.calstate.edu/science/.
Providing news, features, updates and insights, Science and the CSU will cover the university's system-wide science-related initiatives and also spotlight various activities, events, resources, research and discoveries at the CSU.
In laboratories, at field sites and through programs at the CSU, students, faculty, and collaborating scientists advance California's capacity to address key issues in health, the environment, energy, telecommunications, and climate.
CSU graduates also contribute significantly to research, education and workforce development in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM):
- From 1997 to 2006, roughly 6,000 individuals with bachelor's degrees from the CSU earned research-based doctorates.
- In 2009, the CSU conferred more than 14,000 bachelor's degrees and more than 4,000 master's degrees in science disciplines.
- The CSU is California's largest producer of K-12 science and mathematics teachers.
Science and the CSU encourage readers to contribute blog entries, while also initiating discussion via a moderated comments section. Visit: http://blogs.calstate.edu/science/.
