December 21, 2010 > New Haven Board of Education report New Haven Board of Education report Submitted By Rick La Plante Linda Canlas and Sarabjit Cheema were sworn in December 7 as members of the Board of Education, and the new Board elected Michelle Matthews as President and Kevin Harper as Clerk. Before the meeting, a reception was held in honor of Ms. Canlas and Ms. Cheema. The Board also determined appointments on standing committees: Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Board: Jonas Dino (Kevin Harper, Sarabjit Cheema alternates). Alameda County School Boards Association: Michelle Matthews (Linda Canlas alternate). Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Policy Board: Jonas Dino (Linda Canlas alternate). California Interscholastic Federation/North Coast Section: Michelle Matthews (Sarabjit Cheema alternate). Board of Education/City Council Sub-Committee: Michelle Matthews and Kevin Harper. Union City Youth Violence Prevention Advisory Committee: Kevin Harper, Sarabjit Cheema. The Board voted to continue to meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, starting at 7:30 p.m. The schedule for January through June: January 18; February 1 and 15; March 1, 15 and 29 (tentative); April 19; May 3 and 17; June 7 and 21. (There will be no meeting on January 4 and May 3).
