City office closures in November and December
Submitted By Kelly Morariu, Assistant City Manager, Hayward
As part of the City of Hayward's efforts to balance its operating budget, most non-public safety operations will observe two unpaid furlough periods in November and December, during which the majority of City offices will close.
The first furlough period will last from Monday, November 22 to Friday, November 26, 2010. City services will return to normal on Monday, November 29.
The second furlough period will last from Thursday, December 23 to Friday, December 31, 2010. City services will resume on Monday, January 3, 2011.
Police, Fire and emergency services will continue to operate as normal. Hayward Public Library and the Weekes Branch Library will open as normal. For emergency water and sewer utility services, please call (510) 583-4600.
Closure of City Hall will mean:
No public access to the Bill payment/Revenue Center. Bills can be paid by using the night box on the outside of City Hall and on-line (instructions available on the City's website: www.ci.hayward-ca.gov).
The Building and Planning Permits/Inspections (Permit Center) will not be open during the furlough periods and services (including permit applications, re-submittals and building and rental housing inspection requests) will not be available.
The Human Resources Department will close during the furloughs; visit the City's website for employment information and applications: www.ci.hayward-ca.gov.
Neighborhood Services, the City Clerk's Office and the Mayor/City Council/City Manager Offices will close and all services will be unavailable. The public can contact the Mayor, Council or City Manager by email.
The Animal Control Center will be closed to the public. Animals may be left in the "overnight box." There will be staff caring for the animals during the furlough periods.
Customers and residents should consult the City's website at www.ci.hayward-ca.gov for more information about office closures and service impacts during the furlough periods. |
