November 19, 2010 > Chabot wrestling downs Modesto Chabot wrestling downs Modesto Submitted By Steve Siroy, Chabot wrestling coach Chabot College men's wrestling team won its Wednesday, Nov. 10, match against Modesto Junior College, topping them by a six-point margin, 26-20, in their home gym. Heading into the final match, Chabot was trailing by one, 20-19. Craig Sherman, in the 157-pound weight class, had the weight of the team on his shoulders. During the middle of the first round, Sherman pinned his opponent to secure the win for himself and his teammates. Here are the team results (Chabot wrestlers listed first): 125-pound class: Janik Santana (Chabot) lost by decision, 9-8, to Edgar Paez; 133: Yubini Barrera won by forfeit; 141: Alex Williams won by majority decision, 14-4 over Jason Gagnon; 149: Mark Anderson lost by majority decision, 20-9, to Victor Tubera; 157: Craig Sherman won by fall, 1:51, over Eric Munoz; 165: Alex Zonio lost by majority decision, 10-1, to Thomas Marquez; 174: Ira Goosby won by fall, 4:44, over Christian Moore; 184: Milo Anderson won by decision, 11-6, over Tony Chavez; 197: Chabot lost by forfeit to Eric McCray; and 285: Sam Gomez lost by decision, 6-2, to Marco Delgado Chabot's next match will be the Coast Conference Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. in the Main Gym at Chabot College.
