Retired Teachers Keep Giving
Submitted By Sandra Aguilar
The week of November 7-13 is set aside for special recognition to all retired teachers. They are the unsung hero's that take time out of their busy lives to continually give back to their communities and make a profound difference in all the lives they touch.
Let's give a round of applause for Division #91 retired teachers! We are proud to announce our members tallied 30,000 hours of volunteer service from March 2009 to February 2010. Division #91 is composed of retired teachers from: Newark Unified School District; New Haven Unified School District and Fremont Unified School District.
Special mention goes to George Vlastelica for his tireless volunteering in the Tri-Cities. George is amazing. He is always ready to lend a hand whenever needed. He reminds me of the "energizer bunny!"
Retired teachers around our communities are volunteering in all areas, where there is need.
Division #91 has also set up a scholarship fund. The following students received $2,000 scholarships: Deirdre Polonsky, Rong Qian and Valerie Parker. The "Teacher of the Year" from each district in Division #91 received $100 each. |
