Roxanne Neely, outside hitter and setter for the Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team, was named Molten/California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 25-31 (announced Monday, Nov. 1). It marks the second time this season she has been honored, also receiving the honor for her performance from Sept. 6-12.
Neely, a senior from Lancaster, Calif., was a key factor in helping the Pionners to a 2-1 record last week. Cal State East Bay dropped a four-set game to UC San Diego on Wednesday before posting wins over Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus. East Bay remains in the DII national poll, sitting at No. 25 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
In 13 games, Neely totaled 36 kills, 56 assists, 23 digs, four service aces and two total blocks while hitting at a .329 clip. She posted two triple doubles (kills-assists-digs). Her best game came in a five-set victory over Chico State when she collected 12 kills, 18 service aces, 11 digs and recorded a .423 attack percentage.
Cal State East Bay returns to action on Friday, Nov. 5, when it plays at Cal State L.A beginning at 7 p.m.
