New indoor cricket facility
Submitted By Cricket Strike Zone
Bay Area residents show much enthusiasm for cricket, a bat-and-ball team sport which is the world's second most popular sport after soccer. The passion is evident from the approximately 250 active teams that boast of sending players to national and international competition on a regular basis.
Despite so much activity and the quality of play, there was still a requirement for a training, coaching and practice infrastructure in the Bay Area. Cricket Strike Zone (CSZ), which has opened in Union City, caters to this need.
CSZ's state-of-the-art indoor facility is the brainchild of Mukul Kumar who is a software engineer by profession and a well-known member of the biggest cricket league in the United States. Amassing an area of 6,240 square feet, CSZ provides a safe environment in which to learn and practice cricket.
There are four batting practice lanes of international standard; two have been dedicated to bowling machines imported from the United Kingdom; the center (which operates seven days a week) also coaches kids and has already started a youth academy to develop quality cricketers from the region. It will raise the level of play substantially and produce more national players.
Located on Whipple Road, the building also houses a yoga center and retail outlet for cricket gear, and also serves light refreshments. CSZ is an eagerly awaited addition to the ever growing popularity of cricket in the Bay Area.
