Jack O'Lantern Jamboree needs sponsors and escorts
Submitted By Tanya Mendoza
Seniors' Night Out has become the rare opportunity for frail seniors to go out for dinner and entertainment. Most of us are unaware of how isolating old age may be for a frail senior (frail in body, robust in spirit). A lack of transportation, money, family or friends can keep a senior homebound with limited opportunity for socializing. This annual event has come to mean a celebration for our seniors, a time for fun, and an opportunity to fund-raise for the "PUN" (Personal Urgent Need) Fund and other joint projects of the Tri-City Elder Coalition and City of Fremont Human Services Department.
This fund is designed to assist older adults in the Tri City area in obtaining goods or services to improve their health, safety, or quality of life. These are one time grants in nominal amounts given to older adults in desperate need who have no other source of assistance. Each case is individually reviewed by senior care professionals.
Seniors are one of our community's most treasured assets! Your help will go a long way toward showing them how much we care. To encourage participation by a wide range of businesses, organizations, and individuals, and city staff, we welcome sponsors at several levels. We hope you will be able to sponsor the event, purchase a table, escort a senior, or make a donation!
